Synopsis

All previous predictions have been proven wrong: ask anyone living in 2202 and they'll tell you the apocalypse happened in 2199.

Decades earlier, comic book superpowers became reality. Naturally gifted individuals made their presence known to the world and turned the evolutionary paradigm on its head. In the following years people struggled with their prejudices, but for the most part accepted this new world order.

A scientist with only the best intentions developed an injection that would come to be known as Evolen, something to artificially bestow abilities on those not genetically predisposed—but true to human form, the serum was exploited. Then, years after it was mass-produced to an over-eager public, something began to break down. The serum began to mutate its recipients, turning people into monsters, and the entire U.S. was plunged into chaos as the rest of the world either stood back in fear or took advantage of the empire-country's weakened state.

Currently, those left get by with the help of their natural abilities or recently developed cybernetics. Unaffected and evolved humans alike must band together to survive, and two years after the initial outbreak, the dust has far from settled.

Game Mechanics

The Orion Legacy takes place in the quarantine island-state of Hawaii, cut off from the suffering mainland and left to survive on its own. The game is highly character-driven, designed as an open world in which random events—affecting a single island or the entire chain—are systematically implemented. Events are posted with afflicted moods and patterns, and they're liable to be different for every island. This will happen on a semi-regular basis, but if at any point you feel life has gotten too dull in your area, send in a request to spice things up a bit!
